There was once a time where social media was used to reconnect with old friends. Social media was a tool to see what friends were doing through pictures that told pleasant stories. It is 2014, who would have known that social media would be used as a weapon to single handedly dismantle our entire society from the ground up? Today’s social media is being used to spread the most ignorant videos and pictures throughout the world within minutes to anyone who is capable of clicking and watching.
Media that was once being censored by the FCC is now being shared freely among the masses. Media like Shaquaneefa punching an unsuspecting victim in the face and dragging her down the hallway by her braids kicking and screaming, or the little toddlers Ray-Ray and PeeWee getting into a cursing match with each other, are being spread and glorified as humorous entertainment. The question though is why? Have we degraded to such primitive and barbaric people that we are entertained by graphic images and movies of people being brutally beaten and dragged?
No wonder why our society’s youth is messed up. Well it should be no secret that our children are completely desensitized to violence. We not only expose our children to vile behavior daily, but we glorify it and make it easily accessible via social media.
Let’s be honest, everyone likes to see a “train-wreck”. But what is it within us that make us feel so good about ourselves to see someone else’s life being completely changed in front of us? Then what makes us want to rush and share someone else’s misery with the rest of the world? Are your lives THAT miserable? Sure I click on these same videos, most of them for only the first few seconds. Then I quickly become disgusted, close it and continue on living my productive life without sharing the filth for others to see.
As a test, I posted a video on my page of a young 6 year old, African American prodigy, who played the cello better than some professionals. She speaks eloquently and is able to express herself with the upmost professionalism. Guess how many shares it got? We need to truly wake up people. The little ones whom we are exposing our filth to, will one day make decisions and run this GREAT country!
